Fire season
San Francisco, 7pm, Wednesday, August 18. This is not what we expect the setting sun to look like. Though air quality doesn't seem bad, I assume this results from smoky air.
I rarely see the setting sun, here in Kansas; but, while out for my morning walks, I have often seen the red sun rising in the past 4-6 weeks. Undoubtedly, although we are advised that our air quality is bad from the smoke, the Bay Area has bad air in spades.

Wow! That's a blood red moon. Some of the smoke has finally come down here in So Cal.
