A moment of calm -- unfortunately, too often what comes next is that Janeway bites that alluring yarn. She is very much with us.

Of course, part of her job, to ensure the household's continued existence is to maintain surveillance on the humans. Are they breathing, thinking able to react appropriately? Do they answer my requests within a reasonable time? For food , water , alone time and total time being bewitched? Human learning is best accomplished by repetition Need I say more?
