Can human society live with such people? Can it live without them?Ultimately a genuine leader is not a searcher of consensus but he is a molder of consensus.
And on some positions
cowardice asks the question is it safe
expediency asks the question is it politic
vanity asks the question is it popular
but conscience asks the question is it right?
And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe nor politic nor popular but he must do it because conscience tells him it is right.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting this, Jan. There are so many thoughts/feelings as I look at MLK and hear his voice and remember how hopeful we once were. To continue to hold on to the belief that our work makes a difference--that's the hardest these days.
