LGBT realities

It would be tempting to think that legalization of marriage equality and general easing of mainstream recoil from gay people and our lives would mean that our life chances have become more similar to those of everyone else. (We're about 4% of the U.S. population, by the way.)

Not so, according to this data from the Williams Institute at the UCLA Law School:
That last figure doesn't take into account that only between a quarter and a third of us are raising kids, a major impediment to economic success for many people.

What kind of society is this which makes raising the next generation a harm to the parents?
