Once upon a war ...

One hundred years ago today, the United States entered the Great European War -- World War I -- and began its long march toward becoming the world's most overextended military colossus.

By the time the U.S. entered the war, my Uncle Stevan's war was over. A Serb living just on the Austrian side of the Serbian border, at age 15 he became, under fire, a child soldier in the Serbian Army. Stevan's grandson created this video history of his improbable survival and further odyssey. Enjoy.

  1. Unable to get the video to play. Don't know if problem here or there. Was interested in hearing your uncle's account as my father and his brother came home from that war with what I think now must have been PTSD.
