Katrina aftermath: No picture here
The photos are over at BAGnewsNotes. Photographer Alan Chin is discussing his images from flooded New Orleans in comments. Shooting in black and white, he has captured something of the mythic scale of the physical and psychic devastation. His observation that stopped me cold:

Oh, hon. Make sure your preparedness kit has all the candles, bottled water, flashlights, batteries, blankets and canned food (don't forget the opener!) you need. And hope and pray that Newsom (I'm not even going to comment on that goddamn Austrian) has enough sense to try and compensate for the fact that a Bush government will be totally useless when the next 8.2 hits.
