What are they so mad about?

Want to understand why "responsible" Republicans are so bent out of shape over the passage of health care reform? Read this. The system was supposed to stay broken. Democrats actually made it work, more or less. Worth pondering, though I can't identify with the author's Olympian, above the fray, posture. Outcomes matter.

Discouraging, isn't it?

I don't trust Klein. I don't know why Bayh quit, but he was an obstructionist himself. He wanted the Democrats to work closely with the essentially non-existent moderate wing of the Republicans. If Bayh and a few other Democrats had been willing to compromise with the rest of the Democratic Party, the democratic majority could have governed effectively and gridlock would have ended. But they were only willing to compromise with Republicans, even though only about five Republicans were ever ready to deal, and when the chips were down, none of them actually did deal.

Klein quite predictably went bad once he started getting the big money.

The Republicans aren't angry. They are gleeful. The Democrats passed the same wealthcare legislation the GOP would have passed if they were in power, and the Democrats will be the ones blamed for it once people realize how badly they are getting screwed over.
