Out at Ocean Beach, the surfers are swarming toward the water's edge …
... to catch the low, steady rolling waves.
Photographers wait for a magic shot.
And there are casualties of the season.
Northern California is lovely during a warm winter drought.

We and our cats just drove south through the central valley (pulling a vacation trailer) and the traffic was insane with some of the worst air I've seen in a long time. It didn't clear out until we got over Tehachapi. And CA drivers should be charged a toll to use rest areas (just kidding sort of) in other states as I am assuming their unwillingness to vote for any new taxes have closed a LOT of the freeway rest areas. With the RV, I wouldn't mind that so much if they still allowed parking there, to get off the ill-maintained freeway but they don't that either. Oregon is tax reluctant often too but did okay the extra gas tax a few years back which means we have rest areas and a lot smoother freeways. Driving through CA cities is the worst for the roughness of the roads. It is a wonder there aren't more crashes is all I can say.
We are getting all the rain that is supposed to come to you. Looks like a strong Pacific high won't let the storm progress, and it is just sitting here, dumping on us.
