I only follow football when I like the quarterback or coach. I liked the years with Joe :)

I've always enjoyed sports but mostly various school teams where I knew some of the players, or had other type connections as with my husband and Ohio State Univ. Also, one of their team doctors was my physician for a while. Once I became more knowledgeable about neurology, provided rehab for TBI (traumatic brain injury) patients, my view of U.S. football altered considerably long before the public has begun to realize issues associated with concussion, dementia. The sport has become a little like the entertainment of yore when warriors battled with wild animals in huge coliseums filled with roaring fans of violence -- professional teams, especially, and even college teams becoming less sportsman-like. Perhaps over time the sport, as it's played today, will decline in interest as some high schools are increasingly unable to interest enough players to field a team, so discontinue the sport. Meanwhile, there are enjoyable aspects of the game. ;-)

But then, I think basketball -- especially pro -- needs an overhaul based on the average increased height of players. I alarmed my husband years ago by stating they needed to raise the baskets, partly because dunking becomes tiresome. Lets see some real basketball, running, moving strategically with the ball not so easily dumped in the net. I felt somewhat validated in my unorthodox view when later, coincidentally, retired college Coach John Wooden was suggesting the same thing.
