Nurses affiliated with the California Nurses Association (CNA) just completed a two day strike at 15 hospitals affiliated with Sutter Health, the monster "nonprofit" that is gobbling up local medical facilities. They are demanding adequate staffing for quality patient care, better pensions, and health care coverage for retiring nurses.
Yesterday the nurses held a rally the California "campus" (what kind of bull is that name?) of California Pacific Medical Center. I was surprised by how many of the nurses brought their dogs.
Hospital security looked on warily. Do these women look scary to you? Well, maybe they should.
Eventually the nurses crowded together to listen to speeches from clergy, labor and political leaders.
Dogs had to be held up to see the action.

Good for the nurses. Try to run a a hospital without nurses. I think all of the for-profits put profits before patients. Some are worse than others.
