Friday cat blogging

Introducing Janeway the Zoomcat who came to live with us this week. Yes, we met her on the ubiquitous online platform. She's a rescue, a one year old whose sole (for sure!) litter of kittens have just been weaned. Despite a life that probably wasn't much fun, she's trusting and affectionate with her new humans -- and very curious about her new house. She's not allowed to go outside which is going to take some quick footwork by the humans until she gets used to staying in.

Why "Janeway"? The reference is to Captain Kathryn Janeway, the captain of the Starfleet starship USS Voyager, involuntary explorer of a distant Quadrant. The cat Janeway picked up the name at the Humane Society and we think it does just fine for this little explorer.

Whoever gave it to her probably didn't know that both Stacey Abrams, former candidate for Governor of Georgia, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, U.S. Representative for New York's 14th congressional district, had drawn inspiration from the character of Janeway, according to Wikipedia. We approve.
