The emerging majority has emerged

For me, this chart of national voting demographics from the New York Times says it all.

 

Finally we will get to see what the democratically representative USofA will become. This country has been struggling to be born for the last 20 years.

It won't be simple; it will often be messy. It won't be uniformly progressive. California made the demographic transition around the turn of the century. We got lucky in the availability of a used governor (Jerry Brown) who actually knew a thing or two for awhile. Now we're in the humdrum stew of living out what comes next. Welcome, Mr. Becerra!

I'm sure there will be much to learn and to do as we enter the new configuration. I've always believed that Democrats are only as good as the people make them be. The work of civic democracy never ends, but it sure can feel good sometimes.
