We simply don't trust him to do the work we think a president ought to do.
Note that these poll results are "among U.S. adults." The only way Donald Trump can overcome this level of disapproval is if many, many qualified people don't vote -- if the subset of us who do vote is not the same as a majority of all adults.
Our job, from now until Election Day, is to make sure that all these people who want to see the last of a failed president are able to vote and do cast a ballot.
