Wisdom from the President's mother

Money did not much interest her. "I don't know what she wanted," Barack's sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, said "beyond what any of us wants -- some measure of satisfaction that we have contributed positively to the lives of others and enriched our own understanding of the world around us and taken full measure of our own place in this life and world."

from The Bridge by David Remnick

I'll take it. You don't get to be President without wanting more -- but I am reassured that the guy got a start from someone this sensible.
