World Mothers' Day snapshot

San-Francisco-mothers!.jpg
These San Francisco mothers were marching for educational opportunity for their children.

According to the "Save the Children" Mothers' Index, out of 43 developed and 117 undeveloped countries, Norway was the best place to be a mother.

The United States ranked 28th. In last place was Afghanistan where more than 1 in 4 children dies before age five.

The Index is based on an analysis of indicators of women’s and children’s health and well-being, and clearly illustrates that providing mothers with access to education, economic opportunities and maternal and child health care gives mothers and their children the best chance to survive and thrive.

Let's get on with it.

Happy Mothers' Day to women everywhere.

#28: not surprising, but sad. Also: one in FOUR?! My god.
