General turns ad man

When you can't "win the war" -- when you can't even define what winning the war would mean -- you go on a marketing tour.

Gen. David H. Petraeus, the commander of American and NATO forces, began a campaign on Sunday to convince an increasingly skeptical public that the American-led coalition can still succeed here despite months of setbacks, saying he had not come to Afghanistan to preside over a “graceful exit.”

I am not impressed.

I'll be impressed when our government shows it knows how to avoid The Stupid. Til then, not good enough.

I've added a new widget on the right column that tracks US troop deaths in Afghanistan since the President came into office. The President has made whatever we're doing in Afghanistan "his war" so he now gets credit or blame.
