Truth hurts

Before the current kerfuffle about an NPR fundraiser insulting the Tea Party drops down the memory hole, I just want to mention that the guy didn't say anything very controversial.

It's not just Islamophobic, but really xenophobic. Basically, they believe in white, middle America, gun-toting -- it's pretty scary. They're seriously racist, racist people.

Yeah, and what else is new? That's not a revelation about this rather nasty tendency among a fraction of US humanity. Every inquiry into the glue that unites this current right-wing populism find the same thing.

According to The New York Times, 52 percent of self-identified Tea Partiers agree that "too much has been made of the problems facing black people," and 25 percent say that "the policies of the Obama administration favor blacks over whites." Likewise, a survey conducted by the University of Washington Institute for the Study of Ethnicity, Race & Sexuality found that Tea Partiers have a higher probability of being "racially resentful" than those who were not Tea Partiers.

TAPPED

Time to own up to facts, not try to sweep them under the rug. NPR has done no good for itself by cringing and apologizing because someone who worked for it noticed the truth in front of him.
