Still here in the 'hood

The evening after the night before, the weekly vigil demanding that San Francisco D.A. George Gascon charge the polices officers who murdered Amilcar Perez Lopez was back on Valencia Street.

We've been here every Wednesday since last April.

The Mujeres Unidas y Activas know what we need in the aftermath of the Trumpocalyse. They are also preparing to teach people what rights they retain in this perilous moment.

As the vigil concluded after an hour, the SFPD formed a line to protect their fortress from the several thousand marchers against Trump coming down the street.

The Mission was hopping this night.

Wonderful photos. Is the SFPD really that white?

The SFPD has actually done significant "diversity" hiring. I think the force is 40 percent or more of color, significant gays/lesbians and women. The Police Officers Association, which actually runs the thing, remains a white, male bastion.

The thing that gets me often is that I tower over this women cops carrying all their lethal gear. Disconcerting.
